Puppy Grooming in Aventura, FL
The first visit is not really about the haircut. It is about your puppy deciding this place is fine.
What we do differently for a first groom
A puppy who is frightened on their first visit can be difficult to groom for the rest of their life, and a puppy who finds it boring and unremarkable is easy to groom for the next fifteen years. That is the whole aim of a first appointment, and it is worth far more than a sharp haircut at four months old.
So we go slowly. Your puppy meets the table, hears the dryer from across the room before it ever points at them, and has clippers run against their coat switched off before they are switched on. If your puppy has had enough, we stop and finish what we can rather than push through and teach them that the salon is somewhere they get held down.
When to book the first appointment
Once your puppy has completed their vaccination course — usually around sixteen weeks — and not much later. The window where a puppy accepts new experiences easily closes sooner than most owners expect, and a first groom at eight months is a much harder appointment than the same groom at four.
A short bath-and-tidy at that age is more useful than waiting until the coat genuinely needs cutting. It costs less, takes less time, and buys you a dog who is relaxed about grooming.
What to bring, and what to do first
- Skip the big meal before. A light morning is easier on a nervous stomach.
- Walk them first. A puppy who has run around is a calmer puppy on the table.
- Handle their paws at home. Two minutes a day touching feet, ears and muzzle makes an enormous difference, and it is the single most useful thing you can do before the appointment.
- Keep the goodbye short. A long, worried farewell tells your puppy there is something here to worry about.
Puppy grooming prices
Priced by size like every other groom. A first visit is usually shorter than a standard appointment, and we will tell you honestly if all we managed was a bath and a tidy — you are not charged for a full groom your puppy did not have.
